About Na Yeon Choi

World No 19 Na Yeon Choi was a relatively late bloomer in the game of golf.
The Korean started playing at the age of 10, which is fairly late when compared to a lot of other professionals.

Choi broke onto the golfing scene with victory in the 2004 ADT CAPS Invitational on the KLPGA.

She turned pro shortly afterwards and quickly secured several sponsorship deals.

In 2005, Choi joined the KLPGA tour and finished second in the race for the Rookie of the Year award, losing out to Hee Young Park.

She continued to progress in 2006 as she won the KB Star Tour event, finished third on the money list and was picked to play for the Korean team at the Kyoraku Cup.

In 2007, she tied for 20th at the LPGA final qualifying tournament to earn non-exempt status for the 2008 season.

The 28-year-old enjoyed a strong rookie season on the LPGA tour in 2008, posting strong finishes week after week.

She crossed the 1 million dollar mark in season earnings that year.

She clinched title after title in the next few years and finally landed a Major in 2012 when she clinched the US Women’s Open.

Choi came into 2013 ranked second in the world but had her first winless season on the LPGA.

She was winless again in 2014, earning less than a million dollars for a second year in a row.

She got back to winning ways in 2015 with two victories, but injuries hampered most of her season. She had just one other top-10 finish all year.
