Weekend winners: Kim saves her best for last in Germany
Ladies European Tour: European Masters – In-Kyung Kim
Kim raced round in 63 strokes to blitz the field by five shots in Germany for her second win in three starts in the Tour’s showcase event.
Runner-up Belen Mozo had a hole-in-one at the 13th but she missed out on the Omega watch as
Finland’s Noora Tamminen (below) had already aced the same hole.
Home hope Sandra Gal tied for third with Sweden’s Camilla Lennarth who birdied the last three holes.
Kim, best known for missing a one-foot putt to win the Kraft Nabisco in 2012, had two birdie hat-tricks, from the 5th and 12th and sealed a brilliant day with a five-footer at the last.
What Kim said: “I really wanted to shoot something lower than 63, because I have shot 63 before, but that is something I cannot control. I had a lot of chances today. I did my best on every shot from the first day and today it just kind of came together with some good putts. I had 26 putts today. Yesterday I hit the ball as well but the putts didn’t fall.”
“There is such a big Korean community in Germany because after the war a lot of people came for work and stayed here. It means a lot to be the only Korean in the field, so I wanted to play well, but you cannot force golf; it’s four rounds.”
