About Morgan Pressel

Morgan Pressel

American Morgan Pressel became the youngest-ever winner of a modern LPGA major at the age of 18 years and 313 days when she won the 2007 Kraft Nabisco Championship.

That record has since been broken by Lydia Ko’s victory at the 2015 Evian Championship at the age of 18 years, four months and 20 days.

Although Pressel has yet to emulate her early success, she has still enjoyed a solid career at the top of the women’s game.

The 28-year-old had a well-decorated amateur career. In 2001, as a 12-year-old, she became the youngest player to qualify for the US Women’s Open. This record stood until 2007, when Lexi Thompson beat the record by several months.

She also competed in the US Women’s Open as an amateur in 2003 and in 2005, finishing as runner-up, along with Brittany Lang, in the latter.

Her other amateur accomplishments include winning the 2005 US Women’s Amateur and the 2004 North and South Women’s Amateur Championship.

She also had 11 wins on the American Junior Golf Association circuit, was a member of the US PING Junior Solheim Cup Team in 2002, 2003 and 2005 and competed for the East Team in the Cannon Cup from 2002-2004.

In 2005 and at the age of 17, she earned her LPGA exempt card for the 2006 season after tying for sixth at the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament.

She enjoyed a solid rookie season, finishing third in the Rookie of the Year race.

Her fist victory on the LPGA came in 2007 and it was a big one. She clinched the Kraft Nabisco Championship, a Major tournament, at the age of 18.

That same year she also crossed the $1 million mark in career earnings.

Her excellent form continued in 2008 when she won the Kapalua LPGA Classic, her second LPGA career victory, and crossed the $2 million mark in career earnings.

She continued to progress over the next few years, including crossing the $5 million mark in career earnings in 2013.

In 2015, Pressel made the cut 22 times in the 27 events she played. She had top-five finishes in each of the first three Majors in 2015 and carded a career-low 63 in the third round of the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia.

The current world No 34 has represented the USA five times at the Solheim Cup, winning in 2007, 2009 and 2015.
