About
Having a famous relative – and especially one of the greatest golfers of all-time – would surely put many off. But Cheyenne Woods does share some similarities with her illustrious Uncle.

Having started playing golf at just five years old, the Arizona native was coached by Tiger’s father Earl Woods, Woods played golf at Wake Forest University.

Woods received sponsor’s exemption to play in the 2009 Wegmans LPGA event – but was unfortunate to miss the cut by four strokes.

Wins at the 2011 Atlantic Coast Conference followed – and Woods turned professional in 2012 – where she promptly qualified for the 2012 U.S. Women’s Open.

Although her golfing career began as a result of the admiration for her uncle, Woods is already carving out a name for herself on the Ladies European Tour and the LPGA – having already taken the 2014 Volvik RACV Ladies Masters title.

Despite obvious comparisons to her uncle, Woods obviously wants to be known for her own golfing skills and not by her last name.

“I have a picture of me from when I was eight or nine years old and I was doing an interview after my event and I had literally six cameras surrounding me and I’m just like this little girl on a chair,” the 25-year old said in an interview with The Guardian.

“I’ve had it since I was young. Tiger had not long won his first Masters then, so it was big, I guess. You know: ’Tiger Woods’ niece is playing golf.’ For me now, the media, it’s just like second nature.

“I’m just a normal person. I just happen to have a big last name.”

Outside of golf, the 25-year old enjoys hiking, ping ping and travelling. If she was not a professional golfer, she’s stated that she would like to be in media broadcasting.
