Welcome to another National Club Golfer battle. This is ‘The one club challenge’.

The format is simple, the players will be given four challenges to take part in but they can only use ONE club for all of them.

There will be points on offer based on the performance of the challengers. The loser will score 3 points, second place will get 2 points and the winner will accumulate a single point.

Whoever has the lowest amount of points at the end of the challenge will be crowned the winner.

Here are todays challengers.. On the left we have 13-handicapper Craig, in the middle that’s Deputy Editor Mark and on the right we have Georgina, who is a former European Tour Pro. Can you guess the winner yet?

Craig’s club choice: 8 iron.

There’s bound to be a bunker challenge, that gives me a bit of loft to work with.

Mark’s club choice: Odyssey Chipper.

I’m scared to hit golf shots without a chipper, so I’m hoping there’s a chipping challenge

Georgina’s club choice: 7 wood.

I went for this incase there’s a long drive challenge, and you’ll be amazed at some of the things I can do with this club..

So the clubs have been chosen now onto the challenges…

Challenge 1: The 150-yard shot

As simple as it sounds. A bog standard 150 yard shot. Each players has three shots each with their chosen club and the player closest to the pin after their three shots win.

Challenge 2: The bunker shot

Challenge two is the bunker shot. The players with more loft on their clubs would surely have the advantage here wouldn’t they? Georgina will no doubt have huge difficulty even getting out of the bunker..

Challenge 3: Putting

The third challenge is putting from three different spots on the green. All shots will be added and whoever has the least amount of putts over three ‘holes’ will be the winner.

Putting without a putter is never easy, so this will certainly test out their skills.

Challenge 4: The long drive

There’s only one winner her surely? Georgina with her 7 wood will surely out-drive an 8 iron and a chipper..

What the players don’t know yet is that there is one final challenge after the long drive. They will have to complete the hole with the ball that has gone the furthest. All the shots taken to complete the hole will add up to give their overall score.

So who do you think will win our first one club challenge? Let us know below..

Craig Middleton

Handicap: 12
