LET: Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Open in Abu Dhabi – Beth Allen

Allen equalled the course record of 64 at Saadiyat Beach to claim her third win on Tour and her second in the space of a month.

Allen rocketed up to 21 under to beat Georgia Hall by three shots with Mel Reid in shared third with Australian Sarah Kemp. The American now has two wins and five top-10 finishes this term and she now leads the Order of Merit by nearly 50,000 Euros from Shanshan Feng, who won in Japan on the LPGA Tour, with three ranking tournaments remaining.

Allen had six birdies in her first 11 holes, four on the trot from the 8th, but she still trailed Hall by two after a bogey at the 13th. But the adopted Scot had another birdie hat-trick from the 15th while Hall stumbled slightly down the stretch.

What Allen said: “This is really special. It’s so amazing to win an event that’s taking place for the first time, especially in a place like this that is supporting women in sports. I’m just really happy that I got it done.

“Obviously I’ve been playing really well and when I got done after my third round I felt really good and I knew I could do it, so I just tried to make as many birdies as I could and turns out I made nine! I’m so pleased.

“I really want to win the order of merit. I love this course. I immediately thought, ‘wow’, I think I can shoot some low numbers around here.”

Mark Townsend

Been watching and playing golf since the early 80s and generally still stuck in this period. Huge fan of all things Robert Rock, less so white belts. Handicap of 8, fragile mind and short game
