The year that the Ricoh Women’s British Open was designated a Major 62 Minea Blomqvist holds the record for the lowest championship round at -10 in the third round at Sunningdale in 2004.

British Open in numbers


When the LPGA and LET began co-sanctioning the event.


The year the first Women’s British Open, then named the Ladies’ British Open, was played. The flagship event of the Ladies’ Golf Union was played at Fulford in Yorkshire. The title was won by amateur Jenny Lee-Smith.


Woburn, this year’s championship venue, has hosted the tournament on the most occasions. Royal Birkdale is second, having held the event six times.

Karrie Webb (1997) and Karen Stupples (2004) both hold the tournament record score after finishing at 19-under par.
