3 Hammers Golf Complex welcomed the cream of junior golf to its short course to battle it out in the 3 Hammers Junior Par 3 Championship.

Georgia Pritchard from Cannock, Staffordshire, clinched the overall title after winning the second play-off hole against local teenager, Will Dunn. At 15 years old, Georgia is the youngest ever winner of the championship.

Georgia, who is a member at Beau Desert, made a strong finish to her round by making three consecutive birdies to score 52 gross. This won her the 13-15 year old category title and forced the play-off against Will who had also scored gross 52 to win the 16-18 year old category.

Georgia said: “I thoroughly enjoyed the par 3 competition at 3 Hammers. It’s a great challenge and I relished the experience of being in my first play off. I would like to thank American Golf for sponsoring the tournament and all the organisers . It was nice to see girls and boys who were as young as five taking part. I look forward to playing again next year.”

Over 80 children took part in this annual competition which takes place on the 18 hole, Henry Cotton designed, short course.

Owner Ian Bonser is proud to host the event. He said: “this is a very special event for us and for the young golfers in our region. It’s a real celebration of golf. Everyone taking part absolutely loves the game and you can see how much enjoyment it brings them. We’re so delighted to crown Georgia our 2017 champion. She’s our youngest ever champion and she’s certainly one to watch for the future.”
