Chewton Glen is tucked away on the edge of the New Forest, within walking distance of the coast. Technically you can golf here, there’s a pretty 9-hole course, but the Spa is so good we couldn’t leave it out just because of a 9-hole deficit. The hotel is five star all the way, a grand country house full of comfort and glamour. The USP is undoubtedly their Treehouse accommodation – huge suites built on stilts, lifting you up into the leaf canopy. Floor-to-ceiling windows and wraparound terraces blur inside and out, bringing you closer to the wooded world around you. This is a real destination spa. There’s a grand ozone-treated swimming pool with trompe l’oeil columns and a painted summer sky. The huge, hi-tech hydrotherapy pool has six different treatment zones.

There are saunas, steam rooms, an outdoor whirlpool plus tranquil treatment rooms where you can treat yourself to a range of hydrating and age-defying Linda Meredith facials or organic Ila face and body therapies. There are also treatments available solely for guests staying in the Treehouses, performed in the natural setting among the tree tops.

Enjoy tennis, croquet, mountain bikes, jogging or simply walking on the beach and gazing out to the Isle of Wight.
