Evian Championship preview with Novibet

The world’s best players are set to battle it out for the final major of the year and the third largest prize pool in the women’s game at this week’s Evian Championship at the stunning Evian Resort Golf Club.

Anna Nordqvist won her second major last year by battling the elements to defeat Brittany Altomare in a playoff after a shortened 54-hole tournament, but the Swede became just the second European winner of this championship in the last nine years.

Indeed, this par-71 has often played into the hands of the Asian players, and the South Koreans in particular have been dominant.

In-Gee Chun smashed the scoring record two years ago, while Hyo-Joo Kim fired a stunning opening round of 61 and held on to win in 2014. Before the event was handed major status in 2013, Inbee Park triumphed in 2012 and eight years ago it was the turn of Jiyai Shin.

Perhaps the Koreans have been so dominant because of the tree-lined nature of the Evian Resort Golf Club. It certainly suits an accurate player from the tee that can take advantage of the five par-3s.

Evian Championship betting tips

However, all eyes will be on Georgia Hall who will be looking to become the first British woman to win consecutive major championships. The 22-year-old captured the British Open last month in sensational style, duelling with the gutsy Pornanong Phatlum at Royal Lytham & St Annes.

With a top-10 last year in her Evian debut, Hall has an excellent opportunity to make history yet again.

The Evian has often struggled with poor weather in recent years, with the tournament reduced to 54 holes on two occasions in the past five years, but with dry, hot weather on the horizon, there shouldn’t be any problems this time around.

From next year, the tournament will be played at the end of July to make up a European swing of events alongside the British and Scottish Opens.
