How the internet reacted to the R&A, USGA video rule change
The golfing world has welcomed the newest rule changes which will take effect in January of 2018.
Hereβs how social media reacted to the change following the controversial decision which cost Lexi Thompson the 2017 ANA Inspiration title.
My statement on the changes this morningβ¦Happy Holidays! π pic.twitter.com/krrcdF6iAo

great attitude towards this. I thought it was unfair from the moment it happened. The score cards were signed! then to penalize a day later in the middle of a round! that's bs! not sure if I would have been so gracious!!!

Common sense wins again. Better late than never. As always, Lexi, you take the high road. So proud to be one of your fans. Best wishes for a happy, healthy holiday season! β€

I only wish you could get the ANA trophy that you deserve as well as the HOF points that you should have. I hope you dominate in 2018 and erase what happened in 2017!

I don't even remember who won itβ¦..but I will always remember that you were robbed or not by dumb rules. Rest well, Lexi. 2018 it the Year of the Tiger & Lexi!

Beautiful thing about Golf is honesty in play, something which was completely lacking when you cheated earlier in the year. Still passing the buck and not admitting/accepting ones actions says it all really #Cheaters

There's not a player in the professional game who replaces his or her ball in exactly the same place every time. I play golf 3-4 times a week and I truly love the game but sometimes they are so up themselves. Not the PGA's most embarrassing moment but pretty dam close.

Important rule change announced by PGA and R&A today..No more viewer call-ins for player rules violations. Officials will monitor broadcast though. Good decision!#golf

Could not agree more with this rule change, it is disgraceful that a viewer can influence the outcome of a golf tournament sat in their armchair. Common sense prevails.
