Lumine Golf & Beach Club in Spain recently opened its doors to the Costa Daurada community with an exciting new initiative aimed at encouraging ladies to take up the game in a relaxed and informal environment.

The Golf & Glamour event attracted over 120 budding female golfers through the gates at the Troon-managed property, all looking to test their hands at the game and sample all aspects of the award-winning luxury Beach & Golf community.

Forming part of an extensive programme of innovative events in 2014, the team at Lumine is looking to reach out to the local population to promote the lifestyle and sporting benefits that the game of golf brings.

In order to address the wider lack of female participation within golf, the women focused event offered participants the chance to try the game along with friends in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.

Fun and creative events like this are exactly what the game needs to bring in new people
A golf tournament, played over the Greg Norman designed Lakes courses, host to the European Tour Qualifying School Stage 2, gave participants with a handicap an introduction to an competitive, yet fun golf experience.

Complementing the on-course event was the “Golf Baptism”, for those who were completely new to the game. Over 60 ladies took advantage of the extensive Lumine Lakes practice facilities and free coaching under the expert guidance of the Lumine Professional team.

“We have taken strategic steps in order to develop our reach with our local friends and wider domestic and international golf fraternity,” said Lumine Golf & Beach Club General Manger, Calle Carlsson.

“Golf & Glamour is just one of many forward-thinking events that we are implementing at Lumine in order to create excitement and encourage people to have a go at the game in a stress-free environment. Fun and creative events like this are exactly what the game needs to bring in new people.”
