About Sei Young Kim
South Korean golfer Sei Young Kim is one of the big names in women’s golf but has yet to win a Major title.
The 23-year-old has picked up five wins on the LPGA Tour and the same number on the LPGA of Korea Tour.
She turned professional in 2010 and joined the LPGA of Korea Tour (KLPGA) in 2011.
Kim made a slow start to her professional career, however it took off in 2013 when she won the Lotte Mart Women’s Open.
She followed that up with victories that same year in the Hanwha Finance Classic and MetLife-Hankyung KLPGA Championship. She won a further two times on the KLPGA in 2014 at the Woori Investment & Securities Ladies Championship and MBN Ladies Open with ONOFF.
The big-hitter also led the KLPGA in driving distance in both 2013 and 2014.
Kim booked her passage onto the LPGA Tour for the 2015 season by finishing tied for ninth at the 2014 LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament.
She announced herself in her rookie season by winning three times and earning nearly $2 million in prize money.
Kim won the Pure Silk-Bahamas LPGA Classic, LPGA Lotte Championship and Blue Bay LPGA in 2015. She has added the JTBC Founders Cup and Meijer LPGA Classic in 2016.
Her sensational form saw her awarded with the Rookie of the Year award for 2015.
The current world No 6 also finished tied-25th at the Olympic Games in Rio, with fellow South Korean Inbee Park claiming gold.
