About
Spanish golfer Azahara Muñoz is one of the stars of the Ladies European Tour and LPGA Tour.
The Arizona State University graduate first took to the fairways at the tender age of eight, and credits her father as the person who influenced her career the most.
Muñoz, 28, enjoyed a glittering amateur career, winning the Amateur Spanish Amateur Championship at just 14. Victory at the 2009 British Women’s Amateur Championship followed and, at Arizona State University, she was crowned NCAA Individual National champion in 2008.
She turned professional in 2009 and won the Madrid Ladies Masters that same year.
Muñoz made the cut in her first 11 events in her rookie year in 2010 and clinched the LPGA Tour Rookie of the Year title.
2012 proved to be a defining season for Muñoz as she made the cut 22 times out of 26 events. She also earned nine top 10 finishes
and four top five places.
She continued to build on that success in 2014 as she only failed to make the cut once in her 27 events.
Regarded as of the most attractive golfers in the ladies’ game, the Spanish superstar appeared as part of three Europe Solheim Cup teams in 2011, 2013 and 2015.
