About
Canadian youngster Brooke Henderson is one of the fastest-rising stars on the LPGA Tour.
The 18-year-old, who started playing golf at the age of three, turned down a golf scholarship from the University of Florida in order to make her way on the LPGA Tour.
She won her first professional event as an amateur at the 2012 Beloeil Golf Club event on the CN Canadian Women’s Tour at the tender age of 14.
The former world No.1 ranked amateur was also the runner-up at the 2014 US Women’s Amateur.
She made eight appearances in LPGA events as an amateur, making six cuts and recording one top-10 finish.
Henderson turned pro in December 2014 and had a rookie year to remember.
She made 10 starts as a non-member professional on the LPGA Tour and earned $661, 264 in unofficial money.
She is the third-youngest winner in LPGA Tour history at the age of 17 years, 11 months and six days old.
In 2015 Henderson made the cut 13 times in 14 events.
She won her first LPGA Tour event at the Cambia Portland Classic by eight shots, the largest margin of victory on Tour in 2015.
Henderson comes from a sporting family. Her father Dave played for the University of Toronto ice hockey team and is a decent golfer himself.
Her 23-year-old sister Brittany plays golf on the Symetra Tour and it shouldn’t come as a surprise if you were to see the two sisters caddying for one another at a big event.
