Stay: As soon as you trundle up the driveway at Oulton Hall and the magnificent 18th century mansion comes into view, you know you’re in for a memorable stay.

But the breathtaking nature of Oulton Hall, which is located near Rothwell in south Leeds, isn’t restricted to its regal facade.

After being welcomed by a doorman dressed in his finery, the opulent reception area with its marble pillars leads to the grand hall which houses plush seats, a majestic piano and a view up to the balcony of the floor above.

The feeling of living like royalty continues when you enter your room, with a range suits, special “VIQ” and standard rooms available.

All 152 rooms boast the latest mod cons as well as comfy features, including Egyptian cotton bed linen and duvets, to make you feel feel right at home.

Play: Oulton Hall is home to 27 beautiful holes in stunning parkland in the Yorkshire countryside.

The Calverley Course has been complemented superbly by the 9-hole extension in the form of the Hall Course.

Designed by Dave Thomas, you can combine any two nine-hole loops to offer variety every time you tee it up.

There are some outstanding holes at Oulton, none more so than the par-4 16th, a hole that feels like it cuts through the middle of a forest with tall, imposing trees waiting to gobble up any errant shots.

More variety comes into play on the Hall Course with water hazards offering a different challenge. You will be pleased to escape with a par on the tricky par-4 24th.

Treat yourself: If your body is aching after a round on the course then indulging in one of the Spa at Oulton Hall’s therapeutic face or body care treatments will quickly release any tension. A holistic massage, hot stone treatment or enzyme advanced facial will have you floating to your next round.

If all that pampering leaves you feeling peckish then Oulton Hall has an array of options to satisfy your hunger.

Sumptuous dishes can be sampled at the hotel’s Calverley Grill or in the modern clubhouse, the Claret Jug.

But if you fancy a spot of Afternoon Tea then Oulton Hall’s offering will be unlike anything you have experienced before.

Oulton Hall

Hosted in either the drawing room or library overlooking the picturesque gardens, head butler Peter McMahon and his team will wait on you hand and foot.

And if you are keen to work off the delicious food you have just devoured, there is a state-of-the-art gym with every piece of equipment imaginable.

Or why not have a dip in the soothing pool or forget about your troubles in the sauna.
