How did you get involved with PowaKaddy?
I joined PowaKaddy six years ago as a marketing executive and was promoted to marketing manager soon after. Prior to PowaKaddy, I had worked in the paper industry. I started playing golf a year before I joined PowaKaddy, so when a job within the golf industry came up, I jumped at the opportunity. It’s great that I work in an industry where the job is also my hobby.

What is it like to work in a male-dominated industry?
I came from quite a male-dominated industry before, so it was something I have been used to but I can’t say it has ever been a problem for me. Everyone that I have met so far and have had the pleasure of doing business with have been great.

What are the challenges facing the electronic trolley industry at the moment?
Electric trolleys have come a long way since being invented by PowaKaddy over 30 years ago. Back then, they were more agricultural looking and designed for customers primarily as an aid. Nowadays, people use trolleys to help them improve their standard of play, so they want to have a modern, easy-to-use product. I believe the challenge facing the industry is meeting the increasing demand from consumers for technologically-advanced products while keeping it simple, reliable and cost effective. I’m confident that we are well placed to meet these challenges in the years to come.

What part of your job do you most enjoy?
My favourite aspect of my job is engaging and interacting with people. I have to work with a wide range of people, from our trade clients to consumers and members of the media, which is something I really enjoy.

What advice would you give to women who are looking for a career in golf?
If you love golf then just go for it! It’s a great industry to work in and there are lots of opportunities there for people who want to work hard, regardless of their sex.
